Mission Statement
Asian Resources, Inc. (ARI) is a non-profit community based organization established in 1980 dedicated to providing multiple social services needed in our community, empowering everyone we serve to become a vital part of our changing, diverse society.

Asian Resources, Inc. congratulates this year s 2009 Summer Youth Employment And Hard work (YEAH) graduates!

Every year, Asian Resources (ARI) hosts the Summer YEAH Program for youth seeking summer employment.  This internship program prepares youth for the workforce through various life skills workshops and valuable work experience and this year was no exception!  Youth went through a two month screening process and a week of pre-employment and work ethics training.  This year s participants completed a five week internship with various community based organizations, public official offices, ethnic media outlets, private sector companies, health care facilities, and law enforcement sites. The Summer YEAH Program strives to connect youth with employment while providing youth with opportunities for growth.

This year ARI collaborated with Legal Services of Northern California, which offered workshops every Friday that focused on youth development and leadership skills.  This year s program was much bigger than years past thanks to the $47,000 raised at our 2009 Lunar New Year Dinner celebration.  Additionally, ARI was awarded a $36,000 grant from the Sacramento Region Community Foundation.  With this funding, ARI provided opportunities for parents to play an integral role in the Summer YEAH Program.  Parent participated in the orientations as well as the student graduation.  The participants celebrated the graduation ceremony at the Boys and Girls Club-Teichert Branch with over 150 people in attendance.

Once again, Asian Resources is proud of the Summer YEAH youth participants for their dedication and commitment to the program, and we wish them good luck in their future.
Thank you to all of our sponsors for their generous and continued support!  And a very special THANK YOU to the Boys and Girls Club (Lemon Hill Branch) for their in-kind support by providing the venue and food for the 2009 Summer YEAH Graduation. And from the perspective on one of this year s graduates:

'It s been the best... it s been a blessing...it s been a great opportunity having a once in a lifetime chance working with Asian Resources and this program. I've learned, experienced, and cherished a great amount during this and it will definitely contribute to my future. I gained my self-confidence and that's something I've worked so hard, but reached it so quick in this program. Thank you!'

Sacramento Taxpayers Take Part in Free Online Tax Preparation and E-Filing Program

Sacramento, CA Approximately 130 lower-income taxpayers from the Sacramento area beat the looming tax filing deadline by receiving free income tax preparation and filing assistance and a head start on obtaining refunds at a self tax preparation event hosted this weekend at Asian Resources.  The Computer and Communications Industry Association (CCIA) and Intuit, the company that makes TurboTax, once again teamed together to offer free self tax preparation and electronic filing assistance for the Sacramento community this weekend.  Through the Intuit Tax Freedom Project and the IRS Free File Alliance, roughly 47 million taxpayers are eligible to prepare and file their federal tax returns online for free with the TurboTax Freedom Edition.  Sacramento taxpayers who made $30,000 or less and active-duty military took advantage of the free, fast, private and easy tax preparation event hosted by Asian Resources.  Volunteers, including Intuit employees, helped participants prepare and file their tax returns with TurboTax Freedom Edition, an online tax software program that simplifies tax preparation and provides free electronic filing.  Participants at all levels of computer expertise were welcomed as TurboTax is extremely easy to use.  To read the entire press release:  click here
